The Club moved to the present  range at Thondayad in 1972, with a temporary    25 Mtr range.  This was made possible by the sustained support of the then District Collector  Sri.M.G.K Murthy IAS and Sri.I.Thangaraj IPS, District  Supdt. of Police.

The 2nd AGM was on 04/12/1972,  3rd AGM on 30/12/1973.

A temporary 50 mtr new range was inaugurated in March 1974 along with the 14th Kerala State Shooting Championship which was hosted by us.  The State Meet was held from 22nd to 24th March 1974.  The Championship saw the emergence of a new State Champion in Sri.Sunny Thomas, who went on to become the Chief shooting coach of India and conferred   the highest honour for Coaches ‘Dronacharya’. The State Junior Championship  was won by our own student member Sri. Renji Sebastian.

In 1975, the Club purchased 10 Nos  .22 Bruno Rifle from the National Rifle Association of India at price of Rs.752/- each.

The  15th Kerala State   Shooting Championship was also organized by our Club
In March 1975.  The Championships were held on 28th, 29th & 30th March 1975 and Sri. Sunny Thomas was again the State Champion.

The fifth AGM was on 15/03/1976, Prof.M.P.Sreedhran, who was the founder Hony. Secretary  stepped   down  along with Sri.K.E.Ramachandran who was the Hony. We hosted the 27th Kerala State Shooting Championship from 8th to 12th November 1989.  This was the 6th State Meet at Calicut and was one of the best organized State Meet ever,  with record participation. Our shooters excelled with 13 medals, with Sri. Darius Marshall and Mrs. Beena  Ramachandran  Winning Gold in the STD Rifle 3P and STD Rifle Prone Womens respectively. Darius Marshall continued to  win Gold in the Veterans event at the National level.

Amendments to the Bye Laws of the Club we made during this period and passed in the General Body on 29th June 1991.  One major amendment was the inclusion of Additional District Magistrate as the IInd  Vice President and a senior active member as the IIIrd Vice President. Sri. Darius Marshall, the Veteran Shooter and Senior Member was elected as the first  IIIrd Vice President

Sri. D.V.Narayanan took over as the Hony. Secretary in 1991.  Sri.P.Sukumaran  was the Treasurer during 1991-92 and Sri.Shyam Shivadas, the Quarter Master.

Noor Mohammed, the Quarter Master.  Club functioning started going a little of the track during this period.  The State Association was also not functioning  during this period and  hence no State Meets were conducted.  But our Club at that time being directly affiliated to NRAI,  we could participate in the National Meets. Even during this time , our members, Darius Marshall  and Sri. Ajay James kept the Club flag flying high, by winning medals at the National level.

Darius Marshall won Gold in the Veterans event in the 1994 & 1995 National Meets.  He won Silver in the 1993Nationals at Madras.  Ajay James won Gold in 1993 G.V.Mavlankar in the .22 Rifle Open Sight Junior event.  He also won Bronze at the 1993 Madras Nationals.  They also won Gold at the  1994 Karnataka State Meet held at Bangalore.

Club General body was convened after a gap of 4 years in 1996 and Sri.D.V.Narayanan continued as the Secretary and Sri. Bhuvandas K, become the Treasurer. Sri. Noor Mohammed continued as Quarter Master. The name of the Club was changed to ‘Kozhikode District Rifle Association’  during this period.

The activities of the Association slowed down  during this period with weekly practice meets becoming irregular and attendance dropping . Annual District Meets and AGMs were also not be conducted regularly.  But, even during these difficult times, we could organize two State Championships – one from 1st – 3rd November 1998 and 2nd from 12th to 13th May 2001 due to the efforts taken by the then State Rifle Association Vice President and our member Sri.Jose Joseph..

Club General Body Meeting was finally convened after a gap of 8 years on 6th October 2004.  A new set of office bearers took over the reins  of the Association with Sri.Jose Joseph as Hony. Secretary , Sri.M.K.Harindranath as  Treasurer  and Sri.Jacob George Kynadi as Quarter Master.  Sri. Darius Marshall continued to be the IIIrd Vice President.  The activities of the Association became vibrant with the inclusion of large number of student members.  Weekly practice meets became more regular and attendance and involvement of members also improved considerably.

Due to the active involvement of Executive Committee member Sr.V.B.Karunakaran
and Smt.Alphonsa Mathew, an NCC officer, who joined in 2006, a large number of youngsters   joined the Association as Student Members.  Annual District Meets became regular and active. Summer Coaching camp for students became a  regular feature   due to interest shown by the then  District Collector  & our President Sri. Jayathilak IAS,  who was also a keen shooter.

Darius Marshall  continued to bring honours  to the Association, by winning medals at the State & National levels.

26.61 cents of road facing land was taken back by the Government  from us during this time for the construction of the Vigilance and  Anticorruption office building .  The lease of our range land had expired in 2003 and we had difficulty in getting it renewed. But, due to the bold stand taken by our President Sri. Jayathilak IAS, we were able to pay the  lease rent on an yearly basis.

At the General Body Meeting on 3rd March 2008, Bye laws of the Association were amended to be in par with the directions of the State Sports Council  and terms of office of elected office bearers were made 4 years,  Two new category of members, namely Donors and Hony. again elected as Hony. Secretary & Hony. Treasurer for four years as per the  amended  Bye laws.  Sri. V.B.Karunakaran was elected as Quarter Master. Sri.P.K.Sajeevan, former International  shooter  and long time  coach of the Indian Navy team was enrolled as  a Hony. Member.  The regular presence of Sri.V.B.Karunakaran and Sri.P.K.Sajeevan at the range   enthused the young shooters and their shooting standards increased considerably.  Young shooters like Jerin James, Merin James, Ann Tresa, Aiswarya G.M, Akhil C.P and Elizebeth O.M went on to win medals at the State and National level.  The Association became very active during this period as can be seen from the reports of the AGM’s annexed hereto.
